Bridge Liberia Organization Inc is a non-profit organization registered in the state of Massachusetts. The organization is refered to as "Bridge Liberia" which was established by Mrs. Rose G. Shannah who had experienced childhood poverty and illiteracy. After fleeting Liberia 15 years ago with some family members, Mrs. Shannah  visited Liberia on January 2013.15 years later, Mrs. Shannah was able to see the devastating state the civil war left her beloved country as an adult.

 

The aftermath was the death of millions and leaving infrastructure such as schools,hospital and jobs destroyed. While in Liberia Mrs. Shannah visited school sites and took pictures with the aim of helping change life for children in Liberia; through education. Unpon returning back to the United States and looking at pictures she took with tears in her eyes; it ignited a strong desire to work hard toward a change that she want to see for Liberia children.

 

Education became her focus and that focus was what drew other in, to build a bridge for needed children. We all believes that dream never dies and it comes true only when you believe. We also believe that two heads are better than one and shared the same vision of helping Liberian children.

 

The name “Bridge Liberia” captured our vision of building a bridge and bringing hope by offering assistance to Liberian children who are struggling to gain an education due to financial strains caused by lack of job opportunities and unsuitable schools environment.

 

Bridge Liberia is striving to keep hope alive inside of these children and their families so that they will never stop believing in their potentials. We the members of Bridge Liberia want to support children in achieving an education because these children’s parents unfortunately couldn't get educations because of the 14 years civil war.

 

We strongly believed that it is important to remember one’s root. For this reason, we are trying to go back home and help our communities. Our overall goal is to create generational change by becoming a part of the solution that aims at minimizing poverty and Illiteracy in Liberia.
